STRONG self(ie) was co-founded in 2017 by fellow moms Kristen Hutchinson and Stephanie Szewczyk. The company has been steadfast in their mission to empower young girls with positive messaging as a way to push back against the negative impact of social media and unrealistic standards.

The Need

The STRONG self(ie) team reached out in 2021 with a desire to increase their monthly revenue through email marketing. At the time they were fully focused on campaign revenue, but were not generating any income through their Welcome Flow. They were also emailing everyone on their list without realizing that some had not opted in, putting them at risk for CAN-SPAM non-compliance.

 
 

The Opportunity

I first optimized the Welcome Flow, optimizing the email design for scannability and a clear value proposition. Mentoring one of the co-founders, a trained designer, on email optimization, I helped the team generate more email-friendly designs. Our extended partnership included building a content calendar, brainstorming campaign and promotional concepts, and integrating with their paid media agency.

 

The Result

The new Welcome Flow generated a 2008% increase, creating consistent monthly income for the business. A new email strategy guided the team on the highest performing days and times, and helped them better understand how specific buyers and non-buyers respond to their content. Separating campaigns by specific audiences while refining automations with proper rules increased their overall email effectiveness, month over month.
